I am a Christ follower, proud husband and father, a Soldier and friend. I had an idea, one that I hoped would help me as I prepared myself for my upcoming tour to Iraq.  I want to be a good leader, one who has the knowledge and skill set to teach, train, mentor and discipline my Soldiers and do it effectively.  I've seen so many examples of bad or lazy leaders and did not want to be one of them.  So, I sought out books, as many books as I could find on leadership to find out what it is that I needed to be while deployed.  I started reading military manuals on leadership and taking closer notes on peers and superiors that I felt had what I was looking for.  It was then that I found another type of leadership book.  One's that were Christ-focused and knew that this was my start point. Here I hope to share some of what's on my mind...or all of it. Just know that most of the time I'm just trying to have a conversation with myself to speak back to me about who I am, where I'm going, and more importantly who I'm becoming. Feel free to join in, there's plenty of room for more than just the two of us. But the one thing I will warn you about, I won't be afraid to speak my opinion because it's just that.  Most often the advice or lesson I'm trying to write is for me, the rest is just ramblin's.  If you can take something away from what I put down here, or at least spark an idea or thought within you, thank God for turning you here; take that and run with it, you never know where it will lead you.  I can't wait to see where this takes me!
